DIY Glitter Paint For Kids

**This post is originally from 2014 on my old blog, but now its Wise Ideas content to pass on.

Materials needed:

  • Washable school glue
  • Liquid watercolor or food coloring (in your desired color)
  • Glitter
  • Mixing bowl
  • Paintbrushes
  • Empty containers with lids (for storing the paint)

  1. Start by pouring a generous amount of washable school glue into the mixing bowl. The amount will depend on how much glitter paint you want to make.
  2. Add liquid watercolor or food coloring to the glue. Use a few drops for a lighter shade or more for a darker shade. Mix well until the color is evenly distributed.
  3. Next, sprinkle glitter into the mixing bowl. The amount of glitter depends on how sparkly you want your paint to be. Stir the mixture gently to evenly distribute the glitter.
  4. Once the paint is well-mixed, it’s time to start painting! Dip your paintbrush into the homemade glitter paint and start creating colorful masterpieces.
  5. If you want to save some paint for later use, transfer it into empty containers with lids. Make sure to label the containers with the color name.
  6. Allow the artwork to dry completely. Once dry, the homemade glitter paint will create lovely, sparkling effects on the paper.

This is super simple and fun activity for the kids to do! My daughter LOVED it. Share your experience with homemade glitter paint.
