DIY Pink Meringue Cookies

This was originally on one of my previous blogs and it is now content of Wise Ideas and I’m passing on the knowledge so you can make these as well!

  • 3 large egg whites
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pink food coloring (gel or liquid)

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (90°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. In a clean mixing bowl, add the egg whites and cream of tartar. Using an electric mixer, whisk the egg whites on medium-high speed until soft peaks form.
  3. Gradually add the sugar, about 1 tablespoon at a time, while continuing to whisk the egg whites. Once all the sugar is added, increase the mixer speed to high and beat until stiff peaks form. The meringue should be glossy and smooth.
  4. Add the vanilla extract to the meringue and gently fold it in using a rubber spatula.
  5. Dip a toothpick into the pink food coloring and swirl it into the meringue mixture. Add more food coloring if desired and gently fold it in until you achieve your desired shade of pink.
  6. Transfer the pink meringue mixture to a piping bag fitted with desired tip. You can attempt to use a spoon if desired.
  7. Pipe or spoon heart shapes of meringue onto the baking sheet, spacing them about 1 inch apart. I usually outline it and than fill it in.
  8. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the meringue cookies for about 1 to 1.5 hours, or until they are dry to the touch and easily lift off the parchment paper.
  9. Once baked, turn off the oven and leave the meringue cookies inside for another 30 minutes to an hour to cool completely.
  10. Once cooled, carefully remove the meringue cookies from the parchment paper and store them in an airtight container to maintain their crispness.

These are my favorite cookies and they are easier to make than you think. Did you make these using this recipe? Please share below so I can check it out!
